Out of the mist Cob came
this morning
proud and erect
like an ancient warrior~viking of old
his intent straight and sure
at me.
Hopping the bank
as I walked along the path
to confront.
Came at me hissing
with flailing spurs
to maul.
Truckers air horn
startled him
backing off and into the pond.
It was then that I saw
it was Pen not Cob,
who saw angers red tide.
Damn bird
doesn't she know
she mated for life?
But Cob will always
be mine.
