9-1-1 Tribute

You Rushed In ,while everyone Runs Out.
Your helmets, boots & slickers are On
Black soot is all about.
Your heart is flushed and your hands
are heavy, with everything you tow & tout,
You stand at ground Zero and say
How the hell did this come about?

We feel your downright indignation,
all your frustations, and
suffer with your heat prostration
as you assist in aiding this Nation.

Our hearts are in your arms, as
you carry our children, spouses and
loved ones away from the scene..
I know it seems surreal,
like you are lost within a dream.
Your hearts are marshmellow soft,
and Your presence is strong,
Time ticks aways so precious,
every minute feels soo long..
You search everywhere around you,
wondering How did this day go so wrong?

You arrive and Rush In again, hoping to
find Jim, or Mike and Jeanne.
Living on borrowed time,as you survey the scene.
Through the smoke & wreckage, you hear
some pipely banging...cautious and secure, you
check the layout..following the noisy pipe
and a cell phone that keeps beeping..
your adrenaline pumps faster, harder
pumping, another heart and life is beating..
its not who you thought it was-
not Mike or Jeanne this mornin'..

You realize it is a Comrade,
another Hero Fallen.
You hug him and glady raise your mask
sharing a fresh breath..
God you look awful Jack,
Glad Im here to catch your back..

Swiftly and assuredly you Rush In once again
Remembering how last time,
you rescued your brother & best friend.

at WTC, Ground Zero .

Your depth of expression and emotion, will
continue to shine long past this darkness and
help carry New York families and victims, and
the Nation, forward postiviely,
exemplifying strength and courage,
in the face of adversity, chaos,& tragedy.
WE Salute Each & Every One of You,
Our Brilliant RAYS of Light.

Thank you for your Selfless acts of Courage
& Bravery..and for risking your own lives..
You walk with the Angels amidst all the darkness.
May God always shine his light upon you.
