This is a poem about loss and how lonely the world can be to some. It has been created in an irregular style, it is almost two poems in one.

Clear night sky’s, air as crisp as the new dawn.
Dew on leaves, under bare foot and an orange sun.
The joy of a new day, with a million reasons to mourn.

Crowds of people, sun up, sun down, they walk on by.
Their lives so fast, no notice of how time has past.
The tragedy of empty streets is only I stand alone.
Emotions blur and confusion sets in.

Hundreds surround, yet we are alone.
Why choose to smile when we only know to frown?
The sun never rises for some.

Clarity, curses life, and the clear night sky,
Begins to freeze, those who never see the orange dawn.
As the tears of the stars blot out the light of the sun,
And we begin to wonder if anyone’s their anymore.

Our lives are not our own,
Suffering we were never owed.
Our lives are not our own,
We know only what we are told.

Nights pass, days never dawn,
Clarity makes way, our minds pray,
That we are wrong, in thinking,
That life is death, and skin is earth.

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust,
Life is lived because it’s all we know.
Some die before their heart stops,
Emotions run cold but the machine doesn’t stop.

All colour is gone from life…
All meaning drips away…
All hail the grey dawn…
