Two years ago, I met the kindest, most supportive, most talented, and most attractive girl I have met: AD poet, Jill Eisnaugle. We met, unexpectedly, at a location I had not wanted to attend. The day was bettered by the fact she came.
Nearly two years later, we're still friends, she still cares, and while I think she could do much better, I'm glad she puts up with me.
She is my Valentine and this poem is for her. While I am not the talent she is, I attempted to write this poem in her style.
When I woke that morning, change was in my view
But, I did not realize I would soon find you
Our two lives connected that weekend in May
Heart to heart, we still remain to this day
So often I look back, grateful but amazed
That God would consider my being so praised
To lead your beautiful soul here with mine
You are indeed my special Valentine.
I think of that morning, as if it were new
Each second I pause to reflect upon you
Iíll never forget the softness of your smile
And how you made that dreaded hour worthwhile
Most importantly, our friendship began
The first priceless moments of Godís perfect plan
Just before we met, my life was filled with doubt
Now, your love is something I canít live without.
When I woke that morning, the rain was falling
I had no idea your heart would come calling
By the time the day I had dreaded was through
I found myself blessed, because Iíd met you
Almost two years later, we are still together
Our friendship has lasted through all forms of weather
Youíve made my life better in every way
With my heart and soul, Happy Valentineís Day.

|It seems that often at the darkest hour, the Lord sends forth an unexpected blessing to lift our hearts and change us...
This is such a beautifully written Valentine. The last stanza is my favorite...

I'm speechless. This is a beautiful poem, though you'll never convince me I'm that great. Happy Valentine's Day to you, too.
