The Multi-colored Man

By what criteria do you judge your fellow human?

THE MULTI-COLORED MAN

There was a man, who was a--

 walking collage of colors;

A sampling, of human ethnicities.

~

But those who make their living

judging covers... just couldn't

understand.

How do you classify  a

Multi-colored man?

After all: Is not the content of one's heart

SECONDARY?

~

"Just make sure he's white!"

They used to say. (The cover judges).

"Discrimination!" was the reply.

"He must be black instead!"

"Or ANYTHING else. Then,  it's alright."

~

But what about his character?

"Doesn't matter. As long as he's not white."

Then, I'm confused.

Sounds more like pay-back or revenge, than

Mr. King's dream?

~

She repudiates his principles

while preparing to assume the  'Justice'  robe,

without the blindfold.

Vengeance is mine she seems to say,

while staring down

the multi-colored man.

Interesting how color changes our perceptions of a person. Thanks for this poem made me think. Sandi

Great writing Zach. All to often people judge others by their cover, and how sad it is. Matthew 7:1, Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. I enjoy your writings very much Zach. May God Bless You.

Just a thought. In the Law of Moses, judges were referred to as "gods" for they stood in the place of God when they judge. (Jesus made a reference to this in the gospels.) Ungodly judges will have much to account for. Susan

Sad because one day we will all stand before our Lord and He alone will be the judge. Blessings, Holly
