Drunken Mimes

Character. Is it compelling?

we staggered along the shore

at waters edge like never before

two drunken mimes out of time

clutching each other's golden hands

in rhythmic dance with shifting sand

what led us to this time this place

who gave us the inane command

or could it be penance for a bad past

perhaps it is petty opulence

disguised within our jilted stance

sliently we proceed compelled

by  some unknown need

though at half-speed we go

watching the sand sifting between

our stumbling toes at waters edge where

drunken mimes are never to go

it fills them with jubulant banter

Quite the image, Jon. I almost missed the poem, too. Reminds me a little of some vacation nights at the beach. Hugs,
