The Last Glow

Reflections of a few days after July Fourth.

The last flair is extinguished

July's Fourth resides in yesterdays

yet freedom's flame is not diminished

passion flares into eternal flame

within the hearts of Americans

for the right of man to be forever free

my land truly, the "sweet land of liberty"

though oppression's specter

wishes to rise above the rights of man

we shall overcome to remain

"one nation indivisible with liberty

and justice for all"

a premise without peer

its glow shall endure

'til the heavens are, no more

A great celebration of this country. For all these reasons, people from other countries are swarming here. Many for good reason, others for the 'greener grass'. Hopefully we can manage to hold on to all the special things (including our language) that make this country great. Hugs,
Sheila

Our national zeal is unmatched--to the point it is picked up by the oppressed the world over. Poetically, the USA will last forever. Realistically, I see a world order in this century emerging more important than nationalistic honor based on wars won and religious symbology and fervor.

Did my poem, "The Day After the Fourth" inspire this? If so, I am honored - a beautiful bloom of democracy and freedom in these lines bursting within my heart. Thank you. Needed this! Well done!
