The Hand of Illusion

Dedicated to America's politicos.

Into the pool of placid impressions
I dropped a pebble of illusions
imaginations reached frantically
for the tiny ripple of possibilities
in the precise moment when clarity
appeared to be within their reach
I dropped a pebble of confusion
slowly outward the ripple drifted
illusion's ripple was not to be found

confusion's ripple grew immensely
as they sought answers and reason
wildly flailing in desperation
the placid pool now a boil
visions with clarity
impossible to discern

the delusions I cast
now firmly entrenched

A most interesting turn of your pen Jon Michael, America's politicos...now you see it, now you don't. I have to smile at your take on this

interesting form for this stream of consciousness, Jon. I think it works well. And the sustained metaphor is very visual as well as so on point. Both your concept and crafting come together admirably into a work that is strong and convincing in its proposition. Excellent stuff, thank you! :)) xx

Jon,
A perfect metaphor for how quickly and thoroughly beliefs take over society. Politicians and magicians are one and the same. lol. Hugs,

and "The Hand of Illusion" curses reality of truths...the root of all evil as they say...I want that hand full of dead presidents in my pocket too!
But Jon! Oh Jon! Let me tell you I especially love this "ripple of possibilities" you have so superbly expressed...
or that "pebble of confusion"...or was it a stone?
Ahhh Dearest Jon, your words are so outstanding in their capture of attentions...that subtle toss turning to a boil! Calico thoughts...again “The Hand of Illusion”...oh yes I am "firmly entrenched"! This is more than politics! I Love It~!

When you add confusion to a placid mind that is like a mirrored lake the illusion soon is overwhelmed. Nicely done and love the metaphors.
