A tongue-in-cheek tribute to the pen. I think

A hand trembles to caress the quill
molding that avian defined piece
into a purveyor of eloquent verse
'tis poetry I chase with uncivil passion
impress the paper in emotion's will
steady now spradic quill, fail me not
my emotions evoke the ink to glide
with no black art shall I ever abide
given the destiny of the written word
thus shall my beacon be so directed
this game we engage in knows fate
let the hand be so trained to obey
errant marks are circumspect and elicit
queries as to originality and authenticity
maintain every accent as I instruct you
servile quill, scribe of my emotions
your replacement knows no treachery
smooth as cocoa butter on silky skin
relating each of my positions error free
to the task at hand be agile and quick
my ball point pen you see is very slick

and drip free

Cute and well-written. There is much substance in the words of the poem, defining the work of the poet.
Might the Bic people offer a fortune for this one?

Really proud of your progress from the early days. You are doing quite well in the cerebral poetry department.

I love this one, Jon. I recently wrote an ode to my pen. Unfortunately, I left the page in my pocket and it went through the wash. Forever lost. Wasn't nearly as good as this tribute, though. There's a sense of focus throughout this poem. I kept thinking...steady...steady. Also a great hint of humor in these lines. Well done! Hugs,
Sheila

Ah, you aspire to the ancient art of writing poetry with a ball point pen. I cast many a colored felt tip into fire after scribbling many a tome, now fading into a uniform brown on yellowing paper. Far from tongue-in-cheek, I sense a sadness that ink on paper is becoming obsolete.

Jon - Excellent tribute. I hate to think of the mess I would have made with a quill. My Pilot G-9 would have been a miracle to Shakespeare. - David

A wwriter relies almost as much on his equipment as he does on his inspirations. pens, pencils, computers, recorders, dictionairies, and reference books all play a big part in bringint even the simplest of ideas to life. A muse can find many places to reside and wheter it is in a Bic or a brain...the important thing is we believe...

Jon,

What a writer needs, a drip free pen. Or fingers that don't make mistakes. Sometimes, we are our own harshest critics - a stunningly original piece you share with us today, that resonates, because it is so true! Well done.

Jon,
Delightful worthwhile romp all the way from 'avian defined piece' - so good, that - to drip free BIC. I love where this goes and how I'm carried along on its eloquent flow.
