John, I am struck by this piece. You have found a dark, and initially intimidating way to describe our personal and intimate struggle with morality and decency in the face of declining truths. The demoralization of this country could be as apt a subject of this piece. We must be strong and hold fast. We all share responsibility in sheltering that candle in the rain and not let it go out! Stunning. Thank you. Be well, Kathy

i certainly need my thinking cap on for this
as you most definitely are wearing yours here;
this is a poem that needs time and consideration,
needs to be sifted and felt and experienced..
and then the reward for the reader is profound;
i'm saving this, Jon, My Friend;
sorry i'm late getting here
but so much has been going on
ever

This conveys such urgency, Jon, which I can appreciate and share, very much feeling this "waning light" starting to dawn on my personal second half century and the discomforting global signs of the times. Some of your stark images make my heart race in recognition and I am greatly challenged by morality "as a candle in the rain", resolve weakening. I particularly love the final notion of the triangle with their being now a definite "cleft stick" conundrum rather than a clear-cut solely black and white. And your phrase "the covenant of want" is a true, mind-boggling gem. Fabulous to read you again, my friend. xx

I am submersed inside Jon
I adore the phantom cape wrapping her!
He is so soothing...I adore the mood
The consoling emotional texture here
Your words are as a loving embrace
And that is utterly beautiful

A world without temptations in whatever shape, would it be worth living, or would there actually be life, one of the first sins, was temptation, but wasn't it wonderful, if not for Eve, what a boring world, or would there be one, to think and write about? One that would make it possible for your suberb talent to express itself, Hugs!

Many times rationality eludes description.
We are not able to fathom all the intricacies of the universe.
However this poem takes a really good stab at it.
Very well done Jon.

"Arithmetic! Algebra! Geometry! Grandiose trinity! Luminous triangle! Whoever has not known you is without sense!"
