Brookside, an intentioned climb to a view, storied or not. Within perspectives mystery is both donor and captor.

brookside influences

an august moon is suspended low
horse pen branch courses silently
century oaks and hickories penetrate
night air intoxicated with dampness

amphibian croaks merge coarsely with cicadas
grinding out their ancient winged cacophony
buttery moonlight oozes lazy amid branched views
shadows sway and beckon from the weeping willow

i seek the how to coerce knockouts to bloom more
the new day looms expectant of an unfurling display
thorny threats of reprisal resonate in my night ears

my thoughts race far away to a jersey shore place
where destiny marches in clinical halls, a friendship calls
concern and love are seated side by each, not upon a beach

i seek with a voracious appetite the stratum of peace, it’s illusive
in a parallel pathway I frequent it exists, yet beyond my grasp
i know its essence, desire, cherish its perquisites, a view once held

a mounted warrior in relentless pursuit of my joy is frustration
age and experience skew perspectives and leave a cynical taste
only friendship is able to scrutinize, shape, and aid my reformation

note; knockouts are a variety of roses

I love your offering but particularly that verse. Friendship and love born from it is a treasure. Thank you, Jon. Love and peace, friend,

What effusive beautiful writing this is, Jon, on many levels!
I especially love the easy way you convey deep emotion. Oh, your book is on the way at last!

here's a finely tuned mind at work
but even more significantly for me
an excellent caring heart with the ability
to deliver at the highest level, the wordsmithing
is second to none - "buttery moonlight" - how good that is!
"my thoughts race far away to a jersey shore place..."
is highly personal and touching, i know what bothers
you here, your fears for a beloved friend, friend
to you and me and to so many others..
and the final six lines have such deep longing,
the soul calling out; i understand the 'cynical taste'
but there is salvation in friendship

stay strong, Jon, My Friend,

john

THIS WORK SEEMS TO FIND ONE IN AN ATMOSPHERE THAT ENGULFS THEIR PLACE IN TIME, HOLDING ONE'S IMAGINATION AND DREAMS CAPTIVE...YET, AT THE SAME TIME, RELEASING THEM TO FIND AN EVEN GREATER PEACEFUL INNER SANCTUM. A MOST REMARKABLE WORK. THANKS FOR SHARING, JON. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

Jon you are such an amazing poet, original and always unique. Why does that stratum seem so illusive for many of us?
