We are not alone and we are not powerless. We can join with others and make our voices loud enough to be heard...we can make a difference!

Campfire Story 2025
A gray haired man sat in front of the shared campfire,
His long, flowing beard shining in the light.
His children and grandchildren were there,
Waiting for another story with smiles of delight.
He wished he could tell them of when
Hard times began to threaten, and become
The depression of humanity that developed back then,
And how in 2009, he stood up for their freedom.
He wanted to say how he stood with a handful of others
Peacefully using the power they had…
The power given to them by our Founding Fathers
Whose wisdom foresaw that things could again get bad.
Power to stand up and say to the “Powers that Be”,
“Here in the land of the free and the home of the brave
We will stand up for our liberty.
We will never bow down, give up, be enslaved!”
He wanted to describe the Tea Parties in those years,
How he wrote to and challenged the elected ones,
How he realized his pleas fell on deaf ears
And how times of faith seemed to be over and done.
But he didn’t give up, he used all the methods he knew
To get the message through to everyone
And, amazingly, from just such a very few
The numbers grew and victory was all but won.
Their numbers could no longer be ignored
As they climbed into the millions,
Letting the Government know as they roared
That it was just plain wrong to spend dollars in the trillions.
How he and the others back when
Were able to make millions of voices unite
And one  people changed the world then
And America once again held her head high.
Instead, as they sat in front of their tent
Surrounded by grown ups and children in the millions
Others like his family who couldn’t even afford rent,
All sat around, waiting for change that would never  come.
Finally, he tells them all that he can hardly bear
The shame of remembering how he did not fight
He lowers his head in his makeshift chair
As a single teardrop glistens in the firelight.

United we stand, Divided we fall, beautifully said. Me thinks it is time for "we the people" to stand together....

Be always safe,
