Late night thoughts is all.

The Little Things

I can hear
all the way down the hallway,
the not so delicate
rhythmic timber of his breathing
As he sleeps.

To some it’s
an annoyance to avoid.
Uninvited clamor
disturbs the unacquainted ear.
Excuse me.

It is peace,
security in my life.
By morning I will be
Gently reminded again, of
Steadfast love.

So keep me
awake or let me slumber.
Discordant notes of sleep
I witness every blessed night.
I love him.

Is there more
that matters in this loco
world we juggle life in
than overlooking smaller things
for our needs?

Well, indeed
there are world peace and hunger
and child abuse and ills
and to the greater scheme of things
I defer.

Forgive me
If it sounds so like I care
Too much about myself.
My days are full of caring much.
The night’s mine.

Another view…
If love matters not greatly,
where is our joy in life?
We need little things after all
To rise up.

Very nice, beautiful. When the breathing stops, silence, and then the longing begins.

I love this poem! My husband is constanly snoring...but then again...so do I! When we were younger, I would get so annoyed by it; however, as time has gone by, I have found ways to plug out and be thankful that he is here and I can here him snore! "Security" like you said is "peace" in your life. I like to think of it as a nice, warm, blanket! :-)

Hi Darrell and Kathy!

I really like the flow of this evening thought. It feels as peaceful as listening to the rhythmic breathing and the security that it known in that. Thank you for sharing this. Indeed, it's the little things that mean the most.

In Spirit,
Bear
