A silly little ditty I hope you will find witty.

Squash  Lunch
I had yellow sautéed squash for lunch today.
No one else in my house likes it anyway.
So I fix it for myself when I am alone, with onions, ooh.
Today I threw in a few carrot and radish slices too,
and some garlic that was getting dry.
I cooked it in a drop or two of olive oil and a pat of margarine, oh my!
Carmelization occurred. My meal was taking shape deliciously.
The smell was so enticing that my pug was dancing all around me,
begging, being very bad. She knows better, my little gourmet troll.
I tumbled my root and gourdish mixture into a yellow bowl
And saw a gorgeous fall like offering inviting me to dip.
The promising aroma, colors, textures and taste were no gyp.
Satisfied, I sat down to share the experience of my treat.
I did not even think till now that I had not had any meat!

With such a lovely smell, it must have tasted well even with out any meat therein!

Kathy, this is beyond witty, it is delightful and delicious. In my eyes, this is no prose composition, but poetry, poetry -- not just the rhyming line ends, but the joyous choice of vocabulary: "gourmet troll" and "...root and gourdish mixture" and "fall like offering" and "gyp".. these are marvelous. I identify with the nuance of 'private pleasure' here, one to criticize (when I am alone) and the way you build your celebration and appreciation of your 'yellow squash and onions', even adding an extra 'o' on 'ooh' gives the reader the extent of your glee. I love that. I love this piece of writing. It twinkles!! ~~ Diana

Don't need meat if the rest is bountiful, and it sounded like it might just have been.
