Daddy’s Little Girl

Daddy—
after all these years
you are still “daddy”
to me, dad seem so
formally old,
after all
I am still your little girl
with cow-eyes.

Daddy—
you have always been there
for me with your strong quite smile.

I remember the long hours
that ran from 12  into days - into years—
laboring to provide for     us.
Momma “mother hen”
pinched your dollar past its value.
Between the two of you
we never knew
we went without.

Daddy—
and when Momma got sick
you cared for her with seasoned hands,
your eyes never left hers
even when her Irish colors flared,
you knew the true treasure of a rainbow.

Daddy—
after all these years
I am still your little girl
with adoring cow-eyes,
silently smiling ….
(How lucky I am to have you for my Daddy!)

                              I love you
