The Unseen Smile

He dreamed
of buried treasures
as if it was a place
he would like to stay.

No one understood
why they did not see
this child of youth
running at play.

No one saw
the scars his legs bared
he just would watch
from the window lost to stare.

He dreamed
of being the same
accepted with laughter and cheer
but other child would only glare..

No one under stood
this child that rarely smiled
they only assumed
he was an unhappy child.

No one saw
the tears that he cried
he tried to be brave
so his tears he would hide.

He dreamed
the joys only of a child
and within his mind
only there did he smile.

Very tender write, Tracey. Sounds more like autism in this child...which is not really sadness inside his world. Only in what we perceive it to be.
