A Poem for my children:
Johnny: shy, sweet, blonde, blue-eyed boy
He is daddy and mommy's true pride and joy!
Uses a wheelchair or braces to get around:
But on his face you surely WON'T find a frown!
Ronee': cute, dark, and oh, ever so wise:
She looks up at us with those big, bright eyes.
She is in pain, you see it on her small face,
But she knows she still has to keep the pace.
Jodie: silent, small and fragile is she,
But she has a smile for you and for me.
Burdened by a body that doesn't work,
She still knows how to give your heart a jerk.
Anh: serious, a normal teenaged boy is he:
A boy who understands hard work and humanity.
He has had to endure much in his young life;
But he has since learned to overcome strife.
Enriquesa: tiny, dark, ever so noisy a child;
She's the type to drive everyone wild!
Born without arms, legs, or hands,
But has a grin that could light up the land!
Richard: ever studious, never at a loss for words;
He is certain to make his young voice heard!
Abused as a baby, he has had a lot of grief,
But for now, those memories are getting brief.
Lightning: she's our elegant African queen,
And she is starting to look mighty keen!
A lovely mama to her boys and girl:
She's the light and joy of their world!
My husband and I have many kids, it's true ;
But kids that bring joy and love to us, too!
Black, red, white, tan, yellow: it doesn't matter:
For lots of love and joy is bound to make us gather!
My *FIRST ATTEMPT* at writing a poem about some of the characters I have used in a lot of my short stories!! Hmm...Not too bad, if you ask me!!

|I can see the courage in their faces. But there's dispair too. I look forward to the day when no one will have to live life fighting a disability they had no choice receiving.
Your poetry is good.
