In the shadow of life...
We are struggling to see -
eye’s squinted in search of the sun -
dreams confused for reality.
We are all but pale mountains
standing before a dark sea.
Waiting to fall down to the nothing
and simply cease to ever be.
Sometimes the light finds us
in a discordant and faint harmony
that we’d chose to ignore it
due to it’s unpleasant complacency.
In the shadow of life...
We think that we live wisely.
Entrust in our hearts and our dreams
though we tend to do so foolishly.
We’re waning shadows in the evening sun.
When day is done, we’ll find Eternity
and wrap ourselves in warm feather downs
while the rest wait in reverent mourning.
In the shadow of life...
You’re the one light I see.
No more turning away from it all
I’ve been lead to where I should be.
In the light of our life...
When we question all that’s to be...
remember this one bright moment
when your light found you to me
...in this shadow of life...
