"The Older Generation"

a poem from the collective works of Clara A Treat

We the older generation
Are suffering the odd sensation
Of being told were out of step
Yet we’re the ones who foot the debt

To educate the younger set
To such a high and fine degree
That they’re inclined to disagree
With everything we say

And yet no solutions
Enter in their elocutions

But soon they’ll be the older set
The ones that have to foot the debt
Will their offspring point with pride?
Or will they in their turn deride?
