One night I met a stranger alone on a lonely path,
his troubles, his name, his story I wanted no part,
I had all my own problems,
he would never understand my heart.

I went along another path to try and find my way,
afraid, alone and with nowhere to go, I had simply lost my way,
“Don't be afraid,” a voice spoke out, “I shall show you the way,”
“Come sit with me upon this rock and we shall pray.”

We said a prayer, he held my hand and the tears flowed from my heart,
“Fear not for I am here with you, do not be dismayed.”
who was this man I wondered, how can he make me feel this way,
my heart was full of love, he had really shown me the way.

No more is this man a stranger,
he is with me every step of the way,
he has given me hope, faith and love,
there is no other way.
