I am a cutter. I don't want to be, but I am.

Scars
By A.L.McClure
09/25/07

Like little ribbons of skin
So smooth yet hard.
They ride my body
Both near and far.

I wonder why I do it
Lest it be to see the pain…
Of what life has cost me…
And will, time and again.

The lil bitty ridges
That form in hidden places…
I can hide from not many…
The horror on their faces..

When they look at me now…
They don’t see the beauty I could be…
Had I left myself unmolested…
And whole…for eternity.

I look at my scars…
The pain only there will show…
What was hidden deep within me….
Till my end, when I will just go.

End
