A Long Burial
Expectations, darkened with age, no longer anything more than a mere scarlet stain. Mirroring an ancient indifference, lying dark and foreboding upon the smooth, glistening sands of time.
Never again to be caught up, into a whirlwind of romantic encouragement. Just hollow, tattered memories, bereft and empty of all meaning. Left stagnant and stationary, reminders of the heaviness of the chains upon the soul.
Love, once freely surrendered, has been left to wither unhindered, unto a broken heart long since rusted shut. With nothing more than a smell of old iron from a long burial inside a disheveled, empty vault.

Love, once freely surrendered,
has been left to wither unhindered,
Verses that reach deeply into the soul and echo there. Thank you, Shay. Love and best wishes,

I'm impressed. This is the first time I have read your work but if this is an example it won't be the last. Well done Shay...

Heartbreaking - when a heart can no longer reach out to love.
God bless you.

| That is a powerful ending, great emotion and word choice to really create a somber mood, good writing indeed. Blessings, Michelle |
