A remote, snowed-in rehab facility for superheroes gone bad. A fiery plane crash. A deadly, bloodthirsty entity on a single-minded mission of mass slaughter. Welcome to T..

A poem from the anthology, "Song of the Wayward Wind...and Other Poems" by Margaret Havill "Mandi" Reid. Named "Poet of the Year" in 1993, and Chief Runner-Up in 1994, Margaret's contribution to Poetry is remembered each year by The Margaret Reid Prize for Traditional Verse. "Traditional" is very loosely defined and includes almost all verse forms, such as sonnets, odes, comic verse, and free verse. For 2009, cash awards totaling $5,350 will be distributed. Entries are open to all writers in English. Closing date: June 30. For full details click the link below.

Even then,

Even at the dimming

With all the last farewells

Looping and limping

Sliding down to lazy scrawls,

Spidering finally, to the bottom line,

Even then,

Easy as old moccasins,

Easy as a lover only dreams away

from a warm womb waiting,

Even then

between an end and a beginning

I'll know

As I've always known

It's joy I'm rushing to,

Something I've known down here in flashes,

Fleet promises,

Warm as angel’s whisperings

wrapping me around.

It's moving on to that

that's worth the long hard haul,

Worth the weary waiting,

Worth it all.
