Here is just one of the Psalms included in my new translation: "Bible Wisdom: PSALMS of Praise and Power newly translated from the Greek Old Testament". Many of these later psalms were part of an oral tradition. They were written down in the time of King Solomon. Some of them would have been used by priests in the marketplace to remind citizens of their kinship with the Almighty. Others no doubt were shouted from a roof-top. When committed to writing, they were probably used in the temple. On occasions, the copyist added some lines of his own. In this case, the final stanza is obviously his work.

148. Praise Him in the Highest Heavens!

Praise the Lord God!

Praise Him in the highest heavens,

all His angels, all His heavenly armies!

Praise Him, sun and moon!

Praise Him, shining stars!

Praise Him in the heaven of heavens,

and in the clouds above the sky!

Let everyone and every thing

praise the Name of the Lord God!

For He spoke, and they were all created.

At His order, they not only came into existence

but were established in their proper places

forever and ever!

The Lord God has made a command,

and it shall never pass away.

Praise the Lord God from the earth,

you serpents and all creatures of the deep!

Fire, hail, snow, ice, storms, winds –

you too must obey His words!

Praise Him, mountains! and you hills and fruitful trees –

and yes, even you too, cedars of Lebanon –

and you wild beasts and cattle, you reptiles and birds!

Praise Him, you kings, princes, judges and rulers!

Praise Him, you young boys and virginal girls,

and you old men and youths!

Yes, let them all praise the Name of the Lord God,

for His Name is more exalted than all others.

His praise is more important than anything else

in earth or heaven, for He shall raise

the fortunes of His people to the heights.

In that praise there is a hymn for all His saints,

including the children of Israel,

a people who draw close to Him.

God Is Love

Fantastic Christian poem!

A few differences here and there but the central theme of the Psalm is not much different than in my Bible which was translated from the original sources. An inspiring passage for the Easter Season.
