I am not supposed to tell you,
that each time I catch your glance,
I can see your naked soul,
Through the windows of your eyes.
Nor am I allowed to tell you
that your laughter and your voice,
Are the melody in the breeze
that can sooth my aching soul.
Do you know that in a dream,
I managed to speak with God,
And in my daring delusion,
I blamed him for my dilemma?
Like a disappointed father
—with a stern frown on His brow.
He said in thunderous tone,
"Don't forget your solemn vows."
But, I... Foolish beyond redemption!
Questioned God’s direct command,
And begged Him to let me love you
Despite the vows I pronounced.
Through a shroud of blinding light
--Oh, sweet punishment divine!-
His answer, came like a whisper.
"You shall now forever love her,
But she'll never love you back!"
