From the poetry collection Forever & a Day

Have you any use for fine things?
Are you moved
By wine or music?
Do you sing when you are alone?
Have you ever lain in the grass
& looked for lambs & lions
in the clouds?

Do you dream?
I wonder about that.
I wonder over the color of your dreams,
Over their shape & voice & landscape.
More than that, do you wish?
Is there something in this world
for which you are melting?

Do you love?
I am most curious about your love.
Does it speak?
Do you write it in letters?
What is the shape of your love?
I imagine circles, bubbles: fragile in the air
forming & bursting, floating, untouchable.

What is the language of your love?
Does it speak in whispers?
Moan in shadows?
Does it burst forth with kisses?
Or glimmer mellowly
like diamondlined walls
of unexplored caves?

I wonder
Over everything
about you
Particularly when I go
By your house late at night
with no business being
in your neighborhood.

Even when there is no light
in your window
I stand, stare & wonder:
What dreams go on there?

Beautifully penned, I especially enjoyed this stanza -

What is the language of your love?
