Do not store your treasures on earth.

Pundits analyze the future while discrediting the past
While we common folk muck through life
Like the scarecrow without a brain
Where success is measured by money
And beauty by young and thin
Tis a shame our souls cry within
Achievement supercedes effort
Where growth hormones defy God-given talent
Stars are made, not born again
People shrink from truth and good
To pile up treasures on earth
Tis a shame our souls remain stillbirth
Preachers well intentioned
Promote their books and buildings
Religion continues to define and destroy
People of different races and cultures
In an effort to seek truth and wisdom
Tis a shame our souls remain apart His kingdom
A permanent world is what we seek
Beyond this place with hurt and greed
Deliver us sweet Jesus from this temporal world
Let us grab your gentle, loving hands
And carry us swiftly to what is beautiful and constant
Our souls fly upward to receive your covenant

I think our souls yearn to transcend our physical world--there is so much beauty here but we are innately restless and seek "higher ground"--this is lovely and true. Thanks for sharing this, Keith.
