In a wood and wicker rocking chair,
in the corner of my garden room,
where all the leaves are green
and I am blue.

I come here when I hurt,
when the pain becomes the dirt
that won't wash off with hope and water.

I am the distant, detached daughter
floating on the outskirts of a family;
no room for this bad apple on the tree.

I am a seed so hastily hurled,
hovering on the outskirts of a world
where no one cares
and someone stares
and waits for something great
to come from me.

I am a tiny, shining star.
no place for this small speck
on such a spacious planet.
Just a flaming ball of dust,
incarnate dreams and lust,
glowing in the air above the granite
grey and cold.

Where white winds blow,
no open arms await below.
Here I sit and think and never know
who I am.
