For Just a Moment
Virginia Marie Swift
July 20, 2001

I saw a young man in a brown jacket,
sauntering down the street, hand in his pocket.
My heart stood still!

His hair was the same shiny blond crown.
What were you doing in the middle of town?
My heart felt a thrill.

Then, I remembered, that you were gone.
You left this life when you were so young.
My heart was chilled.

I miss you so much, my beautiful boy!
You were my precious pride and joy.
My heart is filled.

I'd cry, but that doesn't make it better.
I wish we could be together.
I miss you still.

My son was hit by a drunk driver and died that same night. He was 15 at the time.

My Son
