The 23rd Psalm  (Nam Version)

          Religion, like everything else takes a beating in a war zone, as demonstrated by this “Vietnam” version of the 23rd Psalm.  

          Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for I am the evilest son-of-a-bitch in the valley.

          This darker version of the 23rd Psalm was probably written by someone who had stayed too long and seen too much of the realities of war.  

          Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for the mountains are gone, only death awaits, and I am the evil.
