Other People's Lives.

Getting caught up with what is in front of me instead of what is inside.

OTHER PEOPLE'S LIVES.

I got so caught up in the tales
of woe and hard done by
That I myself identified with
the black cloud in the sky

I was so moved by all the sorrows
by friends and passerbys
That I myself sought out
A shoulder on whence to cry

They healed and moved on in
their own time
But somehow I was static
remembering my own catastrophic
chain of events
My 10 lives spent out of 9

I was living on borrowed time.

If I don't change or make a move
I'm going to end up
stuck in a groove
An outdated record on repeat
Until there is nothing or no-one
Left to take the heat

I need to put ice on the pain
I need to regain a sense of me
I got so lost on the highway
that I forgot to plan my journey
Driving aimlessly into the night
I've got to set this right

And acknowledge who I am meant to be
