the leather of my best black shoes
gets scuffed up by something i stepped in
but a little spit on my finger
takes care of it quick and i walk again

oh
in this broken glass world
how can you find
a diamond here girl?

i lay my head down to rest
and come up with a face full of glitter
lodged shallowly under my skin
why don't the stars pick up their litter

swimming
in this shimmering pool
full of bright plastic
an unrecognized jewel

if thoughts could materialize
i'd float in an ocean of issue
and look as i do until after
and then turn as thin as a tissue

how
in this one sided dream
is an object to rise
above such heavy cream

i fall and i get up
i half fill the half empty cup
a bird in my hand flies away
i've not got the cruelty to make it stay

the fixer of fallen angels' wings
is forgotten when such angels sing

Niki, I love the way you word things. You reach out into the world and bring back something special to reflect on.

Brilliant!
