Echoing the sentiments of some French moms about the head scarf bans...

our children's safety and freedom
this is what we both want
to be able to tell them what they can do
instead of always what they can't

but some made your life inconvenient
and someone made my life a hell
you left your hometown like a bat
and i too broke the chains of my jail

you suffered so much at their hands
when all you asked is to be free
i'm sorry that those people hurt you
but those bad people aren't me

so when you grew up and could vote
you voted for those who proclaimed
that they would protect you from those
by whom in your youth you were shamed

you gave them the power and right
to without your personal ballot
make laws however they please
and enforce them by gavel or mallot

you've lost much trust in their rule
but still buy what they want you to see
i'm sorry they misuse your taxes
but that cash did not make it to me

if i liked things as they were there
i would not have given all to be here
i would not have run for my life
if i did not have what to fear

your rhetoric about my faith
recycled from puppets on the news
have no basis in reality
they certainly are not my views

you have a good reason to fear
the same demons that once plagued me
but i obviously am not like them
like you i just want to be free

i took off my scarf in defiance
now my daughter wears it for the same
did i come all this way to again
have the rich using us in their games

where is your feministic fervor
when someone wants the right to be covered
you have a right to wear butt cleavage jeans
why freedom for one not the other

i'm sorry that those people hurt you
but fanatics have also hurt me
though now between your cops and theirs
the difference is getting harder to see

Sure is.

A mouthful...and on the mark.

Enjoyed.
