My daughter will be 40 on Sunday. I can't believe all the years have passed. This poem is dedicated to my baby girl. Happy birthday Julie!

They laid you in my arms that morn,
My heart was full of joy.
I didn’t know the way I’d feel
I’m glad you weren’t a boy.
I held you in my arms so tight
Not wanting to let go.
They came to take you
For a while, said you
Need to sleep.
They brought you back
To me again,
So I could kiss your feet.
I watched your little face that night
I put you in your bed.
I sat and rocked you to and fro
Not wanting to let go.
I watched your little piggy tails
Flapping in the breeze.
I kissed your face, your elbows too
I even kissed your knees.
As a first time Mom,
I needed you
To help me through some days.
It was because of you my child
I learned how much you care.
My little girl with your smile so sweet
I knew without a doubt,
I’d love you more each passing day
That’s why I want to shout.
I knew one day you’d surly grow to be
The kind of woman you’ve become
You’re still a joy to me.
On this special day
 I can’t believe,
The years have passed me by.
But on this day, I’m not
Surprised how the time did fly.
You’re the kind of daughter
Every Mother wants to say
You’re my girl, I love you so on this very day.
You give your love to all
You give unselfishly,
That’s become your call.
But now you’re all grown up you see,
You’d think it pretty strange.
If I kissed you on your head,
Your elbows or your knee.
So on this anniversary,
I say to you my sweet,
I love you only more today,
Than when we two did meet.
Tell me darlin’ does it seem,
Just a day or two, or so,
Or has it really been
some 40 years ago?

I am wishin Julie a very happy 40th birthday. My daughter Kaye was born July 4 1968 and was 40 then. She has rheumatoid arthritis, still holds down a job where she is on her feet all day, but cannot do hiking like she used to. Thank God your Julie is ok so far. It's hard to know your daughter is hurting,

This could be written only by a caring, loving mother. I felt your pride throughout the entire write. It's an irony, my granddaughter will be six years old on September 28.
