GRANDMA NEFF
I had no way of knowing
That day I left your room
You heard His Voice calling
Your time was coming soon.
I begged you not to go that day
I wanted you to stay
You said to me
I’m tired my child
Please don’t act that way.
I felt the tears
Roll down my cheeks
I held on to your hand
You smiled at me and said
It’s time to take a stand.
I’ve always been there for you
It’s time for me to go
Just remember what I taught you
You’ll reap just what You sow.
I can’t believe it’s been so long
Since I said good-bye to you
There’s not a day
That I don’t hear
You tell me what to do.
You taught me long ago
To be the kind of friend
To turn the other cheek
And know that I depend
On all the prayers you shared with me
The nights when you were there
Beside my bed and kissing me
And praying on your knee.
