New Lease On Life

A new day dawned, with the promise of light

Colors shone vivid, with evidence of life

Did not expect, what the day had in store

I openly embraced it, as I walked out the door

A day like others, I thought not

But I ventured forth, and discovered a lot

There she was, standing before me

An Angel of mercy, a flower to see

Caught off guard, by her beauty and grace

My eyes never left her, my heart could only race

Feelings long lost, from a heart that was broken

          Are now reborn, by this precious token 

When she spoke to me, my heart did soar

I loved her accent, she opened that door

Did not understand, the meaning of this day

But had to ask her, for some time anyway

She accepted my offer, and we set a date

And today we are one, in an implausible state

She won my heart, from the moment we met

To the point it hurts, the farther apart we get

Together forever, are our thoughts in mind

But life can be cruel, and prevents in kind

One day at a time, is all we can hope

Mastering time and space, now we must cope

Her presence is pure, and her desire is not trite

For she has given me, a New Lease on Life
