Shadows of Love

Would I be apt to be standing in the shadows
while you should pine away for someone else?
for now I am not privileged to hear the tears fall
when they roll down those cheeks of porcelain
as time has come and gone like a rushing river
and the banks are too steep for anyone to wait
the granite boulders that are pounded silk white
as monuments of an ancient calendar now silent

the marbled remnants of once great mountains
have slithered down the canyons of our youth
to settle in the cavities of gray unsung valleys
and lost within the thickets of fermented milk
long since abandoned to the ravages of time
left to spoil in the vacuum of our forgotten lives
there is no light in the recess of our tomorrows
none that shines brightly when winter arrives

there is no faint hint of hyacinth in the garden
for the soil itself has become unclean and shy
wherein the moon can no longer show favor
nor cast nighttime calls of reflected shadows
merging our souls for the ritual of an intimacy
that splintered in the halls of an empty house
that escaped in those blue hues of darkness
for they are relegated to the reality of memory

would I be apt to be standing in the shadows
when our lives have traced the outline of life?
and there is no hope of retrieving moments
that have washed away in a wayward river
among the remnants of a splintered romance
quickly battered along the way in white water
despite the piercing cries of two broken hearts
that a cold declining world can no longer hear

HOW SAD...BUT HOW TRUE! FOR AFTER A TIME, ONE GROWS TIRED AND BEGINS TO QUESTION...TO WONDER...HOW LONG MUST I WAIT FOR YOUR LOVE? THIS IS ONLY HUMAN BUT SO UNLIKE THE...OTHER ONE. FOR THE OTHER ONE IS WILLING TO STAND IN THE SHADOWS AND WAIT FOR OUR LOVE...FOREVER...IF HE HAS TO. DIFFERENT SHADOWS...INDEED, A DIFFERENT KIND OF LOVE. THIS IS A PROFOUND WORK...YOUR GIFT IS REMARKABLE AND ENJOYED IMMENSELY. THANK YOU FOR SHARING AND A MERRY, MERRY, MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU! LOVE, BLESSINGS & FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

I can hear the sweeping strain of a majestic and resonant medley, a cascading train of thought carrying a rich range of emotional and intellectual freight, festooned with the hopes and fears of a soul finely-tuned to the stoic spirit of sorrows... this rich read will surely repay subsequent perusals with a surfeit of accumulated interest. Looking forward to more from you.

No one has a heart and a pen like yours Amor. Lovers like you are never standing in the shadows, but always shinning in the light of love. Surely where love lives hope abides with it. Poignant, bittersweet and heartfelt poem. Merry Christmas Dear One.

Amor, Words cannot describe fully what your poem holds for this reader. You are amazing! The depth to which this enfolds is utterly outstanding. The passion and sadness is heart breaking.
You should be heralded in the world along with Dante, and other romantic poets, you are this good.

Much peace, love and light, and Happy Holidays,
Amber
