she came in the color of angels
the kind that look over your shoulders
to smear a kiss upon the breeze
with marshmallow smiles upon her lips
and apricot pinks on her cheeks
that speaks volumes of a genuine heart
while the world spins in its web
enveloped by the same kind of love

her words were sweet tasting spices
that sprinkled so soft on the mind
of anyone who would find her secrets
through the flavor found in her voice
there, no one would ever refuse her
and all would crawl on hands and knees
to gain another smile as a fortune
to collect sweet dreams from her skies

she seemed to have always a moment
even when there was no time to spare
reading into the first hint of morning
to understand a little more of her world
the clarity of her eyes can envision
what many around cannot understand
but her heart is rendered completely
in the palms of a patient God she awaits

there is a comfort upon her arrival
and there is love in her heart every day
when sands of the hourglass are inverted
never run out when she is in the clouds
her memory of days past are savored
and her thoughts are candy apple dreams
that all would be envious to treasure
and she pockets them for another night

excellent writing, Amor, and what Kate
says about 'expert balance' is absolutely
spot on, your work is always 'finished'
resolved with the right degree of feeling and
polish and that is difficult to achieve
once or twice never mind consistently..
a real treat!

what a complete poppet of a poem and makes me feel all sugary-pink and apple-spicey... The stuff that "little girls are made of", according to the old rhyme. This has "feel good" through every line and serif, Amor, and if she is an adult (as opposed to a darling Daddy's little girl!), then she must be a perfect saint for whom the very breeze would lay itself prostrate just to have her walk across it and be able to kiss her feet. You have dressed your tender thoughts wonderfully well here so that we can picture perfectly this angel-girl without any sense of cloying. Such expert balance in writing is very hard to achieve. Bless you - and her! :)) xx
