On Monday morning May 31st, our beagle Kayla was run over and killed by a truck. She was just three years old and the youngest of our four dogs. Kayla lived life to the fullest and was always in a playful spirit. I didn't realize how much she was the heart of our family until now that she is gone. The house feels empty without her. The other dogs are mopey and obviously in mourning. They keep staring out into the field where Kayla played, hoping that she would come back. I stare out in that field with them and feel the same.

Beautiful Being

I want to write a tribute to you
That will resound around the world
Where  everybody would know you existed
I want them to feel the pain of your loss
And the joy that resided in your heart
Every moment of your brief life
I want them to experience your laughter
And your frolic that never abated
Even when the rest of us cried
I want them all to know
How much of a beautiful being you were
And that your spirit never sagged
I want them to adore you
As much as we did every day with you
You were the center of our lives
I want them to think about you
Now and then and keep your memory alive
Even though you are forever departed
I want to believe in a heaven
Where we all could be together again
And the sorrow I feel now will go away
Rest in peace little beagle, little Kayla girl
My love for you will never die

I CAN UNDERSTAND THE PAIN THAT PROMPTED THIS WORK...OUR FAMILY LOST 'CANDI' LAST YEAR. SHE WAS AN UNIQUE, FELINE LADY. AND THOUGH FATE WAS SOMEHWAT KINDER TO US, FOR WE HAD HER FOR 18 YEARS AND SHE DIED OF OLD AGE...NO MATTER HOW THEY LEAVE US, WE REMAIN WITH A VOID THAT CANNOT BE REPLACED AND MEMORIES THAT WE WILL NEVER LET GET AWAY FROM US. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS & FAITH...

Sorry to hear about this; I don't know what we'd if our Tibetan Terrier was run over.

Best wishes.

This is beautiful, Joe. You have a beautiful, loving heart and I believe Kayla feels your emotion from her new place - her everywhere-at-once place. You'll be able to sense her in the breeze as she rustles the leaves, makes the tall grasses sway and the daisies dance. You'll see the sparkle in her eye reflected in the sun glittering off the lake. You'll see the color of her spirit in the blossoms and butterflies. You'll feel her love well up from your core and, in the quiet times, you'll feel the connection between the two of you and know it will never wane. This will bring you peace. Sending hugs to you, Laura and all your precious animal teachers.
