The End of the Road

completing,
healing
each layer of self
becoming whole.

then

peeling off,
offering up,
surrendering,
each layer of self
like an onion.

and finally finding,
when it comes down to the end

empty space

it may fill with light
or dark
or myriad details
of everyday life

it doesn't matter what
fills it anymore
because

everything that fills it

is the divine

i swim in it
it swims in me

the borders of
the container that i call myself

are getting thinner and thinner
more permeable

until they seem so transparent
they are almost not-there

yet everything goes on as before:
the ego, functions within its proper place,
does what it does
has its issues and fears
joys and pastimes
curious quirks and remarkable sanities

all floating about or
sometimes rowing

within this awesome
mystery

the vestige of "I"
walks in dark knowing
