I used to love sitting on the front porch my old ranch house, thinking about my past, my present, my future, and the lady who was always there when I came home.

When I wake up in the morning

And look out my front door

I quietly reflect my past

And some times I knew before.

The things that I have done and said

To people who had kept me when

I had no place to go

To rest my weary head.

CHORUS:   Now I’m back to my beginnings

And the place where it began.

   To a small backwoods farm

And some old worked out land.

With my guitar right beside me

   And knowin’ who I am.

Yeah, I’m back to my beginnings

   Once again.

There’s a woman waitin’ for me there.

She holds a memory sweet and dear,

Of times we’ve had together

And a love that we both share.

One night of love won’t make up

For the times she’s spent alone

But until I have to leave again

This is where I’ll make my home.

What a beautiful song! The music compliments the poem perfectly, as you reflect upon your life. Loved it.

Always returning to our roots, where it all began, well recited....
