What is happiness?

Searching for
While writing about
Like an unwanted
Viral infection
Makes no sense
When I’d rather be
Reading a good book
Like ‘Mozart’s Wife’
by Juliet Waldron
A fascinating look
Into someone
Else’s life
A love story
With a bitter
Twist of lemon
Excellent music

Joy sneaks up on you
shushing down hills
On powdered snow
At forty below
Wind whipping
Your back
Leaving you behind
Caressing frostbite pain

Chases laughter
Around a Sierra campfire
Full of jokes
With snow on the ground
Driving away
Heart disease
Holding the end
At bay
Keeping it
At arm’s length

Say ‘happiness’ softly
Taste it
Smell it
Touch it
‘I love you.’
Hold hands
Pure magic

It’s true
Trails behind
Like sticky gum
On the bottom
Of a shoe
Run with the wind
Don’t let it catch you

Chasing delight
Through streets
On mountain bikes
With twenty or more speeds
For pleasure
In a cherry flavored
Snow cone
A banana split
Like friendly ghosts
A shadow
Taunts us with
Tickling giggles
Diminishing pain

Climb a mountain
To the summit
Where bliss is
Dark chocolate
A root beer float
Illusive as the other side of the moon
A good comedy romance
Brushes the soul
Healing heartbreak

Did you hear the baby
Laughing at butterflies
Reaching for beauty?

Always look to the light, allow the undesirable misfortunes to fade away, delightful read....

Racing to the happy side of live and leaving behind misfortunes.
Sadly, it ain't easy - but I like the way your well-structured poem
goes about it. For a long time, I tried to live by the "philosophy"
of one if my favorite flicks, A Thousand Clowns: never miss the funny part. It works more often than not. Anyway, Lloyd, I love the poem,
especially the closing three lines. -gene.

This is beautifully inspiring, Lloyd - and yes, I did hear it. :) Well done! This is sure to lift anyone out of the depths of despair - a miracle in your words - thank you. :)

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
