We live and learn. I certainly do and when I heard about another form of poetry, 'senryu'. I learned that 'senryu' fits what I'm writing about China. Now, the haibuns I write will be using a 'senryu' instead of 'haiku', the traditional form.

A ‘senryu’ is a three line Japanese poem structurally similar to haiku. It is unrhymed and the subject is based on human nature. It is usually satirical or ironic.

Lloyd, I applaud this series. Keep asking the tough questions.
You're right about Senyru, but haiku is also appropriate for haibun (in fact, haiku is most often use) - it all depends up mood and circumstances. In haiku, for example, there should be some indication of the season of the year. Write on. -gene. |
