Robert Frost once wrote, "Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,..." Which road did you take?

Something is missing
day and night
in this mechanized world
cluttered with cell phones;
the constant prattle of television;
the virtual world with
headsets full of voices
and song

Behind it all
in the distance—
hum of refrigerator
- the metro
- freeways

Early morning surrounds
houses with
a silence full of noise
mingling with the chill.
There is mist.
- clock ticking
- beating of a heart
- rasp of breath
- a purr deep inside the head

This is the time
to touch God
with your thoughts

To stay in touch
with serenity

Long ago in July
in the Sierras
above eleven thousand feet
God painted that night
with a generous brush
full of light
and the world
held its breath
in awe

We are so out of touch with where we REALLY are--lost in a chatter of our machines and voices--a perfect tribute to a place where you can--for a moment--hear the earth breathe!

"Serenity" -- a poem so beautifully expressed! I find serenity in vistas of breathtaking beauty -- and within inner visions -- and also within sensations and emotions of inner bliss.

Happy New Year to you and yours.

Lloyd, you find your serenity at the top of the world in the
high Sierras, I find mine in early winter under the stars at
ocean's edge. This is beautifully done. -gene.

And I hold my breath, in awe of the scene of serenity you paint on my grateful heart: thank you, Lloyd. My favorite line:

" ... a silence full of noise ... " <--- those that have ears, let them hear - glorious!!

Happy New Year, (((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
