about the end of our time-
maybe?
|
I see this as an extended metaphor for
The Fall of Man
An extravaganza drenched in blood and flames
For surely humanity is on that path again
With Islamic Terrorists wanting to use WMDs
To power a time machine surrounded by promised virgins
That will never appear
Throwing the world back a thousand years
Then there are fanatical Evangelicals
Wanting the Jewish state to rebuild the temple
Bringing on Armageddon
Believing this destruction of most life on earth
Ending civilization as we know it
Will send the worthy to a better place
Maybe they are right—
Maybe oblivion is a better place "for them"
However, the "survivors" will be stuck in reality
Struggling to claw back to the top
Taking another thousand years—maybe
What we don't know
Is the crazy ones will be there too
Doing it all over again
Humanity will never rid itself of the insanity
Built into the DNA strand
As a shadowy cancer
Always lurking
The peeping tom
The predator in the dark

Bravo! The world of realiity, methinks! More recognitioin should be given for poems such as yours, Lloyd, where truths abound. Seems we are still warring over the "Crusades"...never learning there is no win-win situation.

Lloyd,
I'm honoured and happy my 'descent' set off such passion in you. Thank you for this, and thank you for the review.

Great come back from your review at John Flanagan's den on "descent"! Ya know when your fired, your fired and this came from the bottom...deep down in the soul of one who can see the difference! Well done!
Nice to meet you! I've been more out than in and am trying to be more in than out, never mind the ups and downs! HA!
Love and Peace~
