To Mary Austin from her Mother

Wipe your eyes, my lovely daughter
For I still live within your heart
Memories are rooted deep within you
We will never be apart
I know you miss me, my dear Mary
Your eyes are filled with tears
Smile and remember the good times
Think back on the happy years

I walked with you on your wedding day
You never walk alone
My love is always with you, daughter
Even though I'm gone
Smile and smell the flowers, dear
Please try to understand
No matter where you go in life
I'll always hold your hand

God has our lives all planned out
Some things are meant to be
He knows the reasons things happen
That we aren't meant to see
He saw my body had grown weary
I longed to walk through Heaven's door
The angels took me by the hand
Honey, I don't hurt anymore

Wipe your eyes, my lovely daughter
For I still live within your heart
Memories are rooted deep within you
We will never be apart

Very comforting words Linda Mae, you always find the right things to say to ease the pain of losing a loved one.

Linda, what can I say about this fine write. It captures what all of us who have lost our parents have felt once the initial shock of their temporary passing is absorbed. I say temporary for as your poem suggests they never truly leave us...only move to an inner spot always close.

L o v e l y. You have made the rhyme serve the poem -- beautifully --, and this is much harder than it looks. Thank you for this
touching and deeply sincere offering. Love and Hugs, 'Pea' <3
