The Dark

Take what happened to me, blow it up a bit, and then put it in an extended metaphor. That's what this is. Comments, questions, reviews and all else are appreciated. Please, no making fun of this.

Away, in the middle of the forest deep

From the shadows darkness did creep

It grew, bigger and bigger, yet only I feared.

The time had come where I could no longer sleep.

Before this, I had respect, I was revered

Now my pride, it was seared.

Almost all I had loved had turned on me

They all just laughed and jeered.

Just the malice did not give cause to flee

There had to be a light at the end of the tunnel, from what I could see.

I did have allies, the trees, my family they were

But my good friends would listen only to the darkness, mine they would not be.

If my cries for help were only heard by things of fur

You can bet they wouldn’t come, for sure.

My position, wasn’t it great?

Tried and tried to make me dark, but it wouldn’t work, not with that lure.

I was light and they dark, I guess this was fate

All I did was love while they did hate.

I began to wish I did not exist

Good’s arrival will be far too late.

I know, I know, I was in dire need of assist.

I wonder: was I just on some sort of a list?

Doesn’t matter, I have become unfeeling, less do I care

I’m getting hit but it feels like dark missed.

I had no help, well I did not fare.

No one would help me, not even the hare.

I know, I had trees, but what do they do?

I don’t feel they are any match for the bear.

Off the gentle wind, I heard a subtle boo.

But where was it from, and who?

It turns out the darkness up and left; I began to jump and leap!

Good will always win, as I already knew.

Not so sad as your other poems, and yes there is always light at the end of the tunnel.

Yes, good and light will always win out.

Yes, eventually the good does come out ahead, but sometimes the journey in between can be scarey, well written piece....

Be always safe,
