To my precious children.....I love you both....so much more than I can put into words.....

There are times when I feel hopelessly lost,
Where has life gone?
When did you grow up?
Why can’t things be the way they were?
What am I supposed to do now?
The nest has emptied,
And I never wanted that to happen!
I never wanted to let you go!
There’s an ache in my heart,
That nearly smothers me,
And it’s there most of the time!
You were my reason for all that I did,
And all that I was,
But you grew wings and moved on!
You don’t need me anymore,
Not in the way you always did.
Truth is, I need you,
Just as much as I ever did!
What am I supposed to do now?
All I ever wanted was to be your mother!
To raise you with love,
Teach you how to live a good life,
To be part of all you would become!
There is only half of me left now,
How can I be whole again?
Beautiful memories are my sanctuary!
They are where I hold you,
Where I cherish every tender moment
We’ve had together!
I loved you enough to let you go,
But before I released you,
I tied a knot in the string
That binds you to my heart.
You will always be the best part of me,
Until the end of time!
I love you!

A beautiful poem for a child so loved. We pray that our children will find the strength to carry our love with them wherever they go. May God bless you every day of your life.

Annabel,

This is absolutely beautiful, and written so only a mother who has grown children can really understand.

Simply marvelous. Oh, by the way you get your other half back via grand kids. Plus you get to spoil them rotten. Patrick

A truly wonderful and all to real tribute to the wonder and love of parenthood. I don't think our children ever truly grow up in our hearts. The good news is that when the grandchildren start coming along we have the chance to do it all again but without the pressures.

Annabel, what wonderful, loving words. I cannot imagine any child of yours doing anything other than melting at seeing or hearing these words. I have four children. My eldest son will be fifty-three this July and my eldest daughter was fifty on the twenty-third of April and I cannot... Just cannot imagine where all the years went.
Great poem, my friend.
