As the Christmas season draws near, my thoughts are of family and memories of my precious Mother.....

(To my Mother – Elizabeth Sheila 1929-2007)

Laugh lines deeply etched into her wrinkled face,
Eyes so blue they were like a cloudless summer sky!
Silver white hair, a regal crown she earned.
Enduring strength emanated from her,
And her heart was warm and open.
She was all that embodies motherhood!
I have known the depth of her strength,
Felt the passion of her amazing love!
She comforted me in my darkest moments,
Lifting my spirit as only a loving mother could!
In her heart there was always room for me,
And the door was never closed!
She was the woman I aspired to be,
My guardian angel, my best friend!
But one day she silently slipped away.
And my world was forever transformed
As she took her place among angels!
Pain shattered the depths of my soul,
And I couldn’t see tomorrow without her!
But to have been blessed with a mother
Deserving of soaring with heaven’s best –
Gave me the courage to face my life!
She lives in my heart and in my mind,
And her legacy is golden!
Her capacity to love, and her courage
In the face of everything that came her way,
Is as deeply instilled in me as it was in her!

Having lost both my mother (another wonderful Newf) and father when I was only in my mid twenties I can relate to this so well. Today my brothers and sisters will go to their gravesite to honour our father who was a vet from WWII but will also say a prayer for her who waited for four years for him to come home.

What wonderful thoughts of a magnificent human-being, lady and mother.
I only know you from that which you write and from that which you respond to that that I've written, but from what little I do know of you, my friend, in this case the apple most certainly did not fall far from the tree.
Your friend, Mark

The Holidays are difficult, this will be my second without Dad, 9th without Mom. Can't believe how the time goes.
My Mom was an organist who made Christmas happen. Both of them made such music. Fortunately for me Dad recorded the music- so I really have them with me all the time.

Any of us who can honestly appreciate our parents are very lucky indeed.
You do your mother great credit.

John
