the heart goes on

Memories of you burn through my brain

Like the morning sun burns through the dawn sky

Why must you keep walking through the fields of my mind

Oblivious to the damage you cause

I have tried with care and determination

To cultivate crops of joy and peace

But still the love once sown

Refuse to die

The fields have been plowed and furrowed

The soil watered and the harvest is ready for reaping

But

no reaper

in sight
